One diamond family

One family with a diamond mining history beginning in 1908.
Thomas, pictured here is the man that diamond people would love to call their grandfather. He was one of the first to understand the importance of diamond and diamond mining.
Born in Scotland. Thomas travelled to Sth Africa to mine diamonds in the Kimberley area of the South African high veld and later travelled to Australia.
The family went on to have one of the largest publicly listed jewellry companies in Australia. Lustre Jewellery Pty Ltd.
Pictured right is Thomas and wife Sarah in London 1915 and his Diamond and Jewellery factories of Lustre in Melbourne Australia. 1937.
In 1977 the Jewellery division was sold to the parent company of Hardy Brothers Jewellers to allow the family to do what they do best…..
Diamond mining….

ECM diamond mining

The great grand son of Thomas, Aidan, continued the diamond legacy by leaving university and immediately going to study the polishing and cutting of diamonds in Antwerp and Israel.

Understanding the cutting and polishing is crucial to understanding the rough diamond and how the life force of the diamond is unlocked by the diamond cutter

ECM Alluvial Mining operations

This unique ability. One company, performing geological exploration. Extraction, mining, cut and polishing.  All in One company.

One company sells diamonds directly from the mine to the consumer

Natures greatest gift to humanity.... Diamond

ECM geological exploration in these diamond rich areas is continuing and the long history and impeccable performance of ECM allows access to the Mining ministries to obtain all the permits and licensing necessary for a company to hold mineral rights.

Further exploration is also continuing in the northern neighbouring countries of Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana and Namibia. The close connections with governments and long term friendships with the people of these provinces is essential for access to these areas.

History's greatest gift.... ECM diamond mining operations

In the exploration of diamonds, ECM geological team are constantly finding other valuable resources including Gold Copper, Iron Ore and Uranium. The close connections we have with other resource miners in sub Saharan Africa offers valuable information essential to lead our team to areas diamond rich, creating one of the finest mining companies in the world.

ECM is also making use of the most advanced technologies available by using UAV (Drones) with on board sensors for aerial mapping and geological survey.

Mining operations and exploration in South Africa

ECM have recently identified new diamond deposits in highland areas of North East Angola close to the border of DRC.

ECM have isolated an area rich in diamonds with potential of 35 Million tone of alluvial gravels that will yield 1,773,000 Cts at an average of U$800 per carat. Total value U$1,754,500,000

The nature of the diamonds and pattern of distribution indicates that the area is very close to the original diamond rich kimberlite pipe and further geological exploration will continue to identify the original source pipe.  Mining of this new area will commence in the fourth quarter of 2018

Our heritage of responsible mining

All ECM diamonds are mined in accordance and in compliance with united nations resolutions.

All mining is in accordance with local government regulations.

ECM has the greatest responsibility to protect the local environment and to ensure that after our extraction has completed we leave the area in the natural state including all back filling of overburdens and re vegetation.

Our greatest asset are our mining personnel and their future is connected with the land that we are blessed to be able to extract these natural objects of beauty.

ECM are constantly involved in promoting new agricultural methods for local communities to grow their own food, supplies of solar electricity and fresh water supply.

The people from these lands are very important to us.

My mission is that you will have the most beautiful diamond in the world.

Our mission is to that you will have the best diamond in the world at a price unmatched by any other. We guarantee this because we are the miner.

Diamond behaves with light like nothing else on the planet. Light will dance like a ballerina through diamond and here is the secret. Everyone has heard of the 4 C’s. But there are differences in the unique lustre and scintillation from different volcanic geology, the heat and the pressure. These differences are not quantifiable and appear only to a trained eye. These differences do exist. Our diamonds are mined very close to the original Premier Mine that produced many of the famous diamonds of the Queen of England.

Our learning of more than 100 years selects for you the most beautiful diamond in the world.

“The diamond will make a ray of sunlight dance like the prettiest ballerina”
